Coalition for Affordable Housing

The Coalition for Affordable Housing, formed in 2009, in which Bimkom is a member, seeks to develop and promote the concept of affordable housing in Israel and to assist in creating a renewed and vibrant urban model. The Coalition promotes innovative affordable housing solutions including social housing, public housing and other forms of subsidized housing which address both the practical need for affordable housing and the social need, namely to integrate populations of varying levels of income in the same residential areas in ways that encourage social diversity and avoid social exclusion. The Coalition is composed of NGOs and university-affiliated associates from the fields of civil rights law, spatial planning, and community organizing. The members of the coalition include the Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI), Bimkom–Planners for Planning Rights, the Association for Distributive Justice (ADJ), Shatil, the Clinic for Social Planning at the Hebrew University, the Haifa University Clinic for Human Rights, the Movement for Life with Dignity, Itach-Ma’aki: Women Lawyers for Social Justice, the Arab Center for Alternative Planning (ACAP) and Sikkuy – The Association for the Advancement of Civic Equality in Israel.
